Input on BEST comapact tractor for the $$$

I am looking at purchasing a good compact tractor with a 60" or 72" mower deck, front mount pto snowblower and also a rear tine tiller for all my hobby farm needs. Would like any input than might help my decision.
thanks

When it comes to CUTs, it's tough to beat Kubota.

Why do you need front mount PTO?

I'm a fan of both Deere and Kubota. Take a look at both, you may find that one is more comfortable than the other.

In my opinion, the Deere's are handier. Mostly because they have induvidual wheel brakes and the brake pedal is not on the same side as the direction control.

With that said, I own a Kubota because the price was better. Good luck.

We have a New holland compact. TC33 and it been a real workhorse for us. Put about 100 hours on it a year between mowing, bushhogging, box blade, Harrow, spot spraying, and running an auger in the winter.

I would not hesitate to buy another but like buying any equipment go to where you have a good local dealer who will support you with parts and service.

What do you have for nearby dealers? for us it was Deere. After owning a 4600 for 9 years we are very happy, 0 problems and it probably is holding it's value better than anything else.

Makes sense.

I bought a Kubota B1750HSD new in 1993.

I service it regularly and keep it inside and have had absolutely no issues of any kind.

It does have individual turning brakes as do most Kubotas aside from some of the smallest.

You might want to brouse the tractorbynet.com forums.

This site specializes in CUTS but be advised that you will find irrational brand loyalty.

Ask around to people about who the best dealer is. That said, I've never had my 2003 Kubota into the dealer. Its only at 1300 hours right now but from what I understand most would take 25 years to put that on their compact.

My friend got a John Deere compact, he had a lot of problems but it was driven by multiple operators. I prefer the Kubota pedal, he complain at first when he borrowed mine, then told me sheepishly he prefered it about about 30 hours.

I have both, a 6 ft belly mount mower and a 6 ft rear mounted finish mower. The only problem with a rear mount is when you make a turn around a tree the mower goes away from the tree. Make any turn and you have grass in the corners that is left uncut.

I don't think it is possible to buy a compact tractor that isn't diesel. That may be a problem if you want a snow blower in colder climates.

Kubota, JD, New Holland are all about equal, I'd sit on them and see which one feels best to me, personal preference.
Which dealer is best?

These brands, as well as Case (same as New Holland, painted red these days) are all good. I hear Massey has a nice tractor, but none of them sold around here.

Japan = good.

Korea/India = ok, lower cost.

China = poor fit & finish not so good ok engine sitting in a poor tractor.

I have a Kobota 2300 that works fine for me. It has front loader, belly mower, 3pt., and backhoe. All the implements install easily.

We purchased a cub/yanmar SC2400 with 60 in deck and loader two years ago. It has been trouble free. Great warranty. Easy on fuel, decent ergonomics for the operator. I felt that it was a good value for the dollar. Easy starting in the coldest Pennsylvania winters. They are definitely worth looking at. I know the resell value won"t be that of a Deere; however neither was the initial investment.

Do you happen to have 2 right feet ? If not how do you work the hydro and the brakes at the same time ? Very helpful to do on steep hills and for tight turns. This is kinda a pet peeve of mine.
John Deere figured this out early on and New Holland does ,but only on the larger models.
I like Kubota's too ,but sure wish they would figure this out !

I have not found a need to do so even though I have lots of steep ground that I mow with a belly mower.

I leave the FWA on nearly all of the time and the Bi-Speed turn pulls it right around.

I think if you look your Bobcat will be over priced. It is just a KIOTI painted white with one more markup added. For value tractor for the bucks you can,t beat the KUBOTA.

Farmall Cub or A, Allis B, Ford 2000 with a Woods L-59 belly mower. Maybe a Deere 1020 or a Massey T30? Any of them is pretty cheap and all of them are repairable or rebuildable.

My daughter and her husband bought a Kubota 23 horsepower about six years ago, can't remember the series designation, but it looked like a garden tractor on steroids, it came as a package with back hoe and front end loader. They purchased a 60" mower with it. I was really impressed with it. You would never think a unit that small would do the work that it does. Very dependable and trouble free.
