Heres what happened yesterday

http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=1023762

Soooooooooo I goes out early this AM when its a lot cooler then yesterday afternoon and she still cycles (but pumps fairly long before short drop outs) but blows "cool" air hmmmmmmmmm

I read the AC label and it says 3 lbs (It stoped pumping remember cuz it was too low on Freon) and I had already added two 12 oz cans...

Sooooooooo I hang a third can on her,,,,,,,, fire her up to max cold AC high fan doors open,,,,,,,and I slowlyyyyyyyyy crack the valve to add more freon and watch the low pressure gauge and AFTER MAYBE 1/3 CAN SHE STOPS CYCLING,,,,,,,AIR IS NOW "ICE COLD" ,,,,,SHE STAYS AROUND 30 ON PRESSURE

I shut the valve off and shes colddddddd so Im quitting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Woooooooo Hooooooooooooo

THANKS TO ALL

If she leaks off too fast now its time for a compressor as it appears thats where my slow leaks are. My buddy had put dye in it last year and saw the yellow arounD compressor front. I used the so called "stop leak" freon YEAH RIGHT Im sureeeeeeee thats gonna fix it wink wink

Thanks again, a coollllllll John T

the miracle in a can stop leak is bad stuff for a/c machines . If you ever take it into a shop ,let them know it's in the system before they hook up their machine . $$$$ a/c charging station ispretty much trashed after getting sealer in it . Lot of places won't touch them if they have sealer. I use a sealer detector kit before I hook up any hoses to the car. Might be good stuff as a last resort ,,but please label that it has sealer in it for the next guy .

ditto what Bryan said. I don't know why those DIY miracle products don't come with a warning label about future serviceability and a sticker for your car that will warn the next guy. Of course shops don't always put stickers on their work that needs it either.
And then there's those home cooked top off refrigerant mystery mixtures. The hazardous waste nightmare they create for a shop that lacks a refrigerant identifier probably makes a new machine look cheap...

stay cool and see if the parts store or a shop you know has an extra "stop leak in system" sticker before you forget that there is.

Just curious, what vehicle as 3 lbs is a lot of refrigerant unless it's like a tractor or combine with many feet of hoses and pipes. On the sealer, when I was first introduced to that stuff I put it in a few units, then was wised up and left the rest sit in shed for many many years. Gave it the SSS treatment later. Whoops, now I let out the last S. I kind of gave up on the dye stuff also, I thought that was a very good idea to start with but haven't found a leak with it yet. Lots of false readings from finger prints etc.

Ruined a compressor on 96 Roadmaster with stop leak stuff. When it would kick on it would "moo" like a cow. Real loud. still worked though. Dave
