Very unfortunate situation, prayers and thoughts for them, and a reminder when sharing the road.

Tragedy for sure! Main thing is the report said the dang fool was passing the tractor in a curve!

I am really surprised at the way some people drive that there at not more crashes like these. Passing on a curve, disaster waiting to happen.

Came very close to seeing a head on crash last fall, I had just passed a tractor/grain cart and had come up on a JD 9650 combine with a Saturn car riding the rear tires. Two lane road with little to no shoulder, we were starting around a long curve, and thought surely the car wouldn't try to pass. About that time I saw a Jeep SUV coming around the curve in the oncoming lane. Idiot in the Saturn jumps out into the other lane to pass the combine, and I set the brakes and just stopped in the road. I was not going to involved in a head on collision, and wanted to be as far away as possible. Don't know how the idiot in the Saturn got around in one piece, ran the Jeep completely off the road at probably 50+ mph, and nearly got ran over by the drive tires on the combine pulling back into the proper lane.

I didn't get the Saturn's plates, or I would have called the police. Tailgating, passing in a curve/no passing zone, ran another vehicle off the road, and cut the combine off. All because the idiot driver couldn't wait a few more feet to pass correctly.

People are in too much of a hurry, get anxiety, road rage and fool with their phones way too much, I don't like what I see on the road today one bit, its everyman for himself.

It's not just "that" area,it's home. The tractor motorcycle wreck was right west of me on the road where I live. We saw the ambulance and State Cops go past,then saw the aeromed come in and land. I know the guy who was driving the tractor.

about a month ago mrs 730 and i were going to rockford il on il route 26. we got behind a huge truck hauling a wind turbine tower he was going about 45 -50 the road was clear and wide so i had lots of room to get around him. i pulled out to pass and the idiot in escort car pulled over in front of me so i couldn't pass and almost hit my car doing so.
i tryed to pass him again and the knot head almost ran me off the road. that's when i called the law.
i told dispatcher the jerk needs to cool his heels in the county jail.

For sure, people are so Irresponsible...NO ONE in their right mind would Text, work on a lap-top PC or many other things while driving...

Until the police enforce the Laws and Demand compliance, many more are going to die..

Havent you noticed..COMMON SENSE disappeared a long time ago...

I don't know if any of the rest of you read teh rest of the comments on the women hitting the header and header wagon. I had to quit reading it. I had a lady hit me about 2 years ago at night while I was towing a disc. She never checked up when passing me going about 55 on a two lane road. The front of her truck caught the back gang on the disc. I was lucky enough to come out of it with fault being half and half. The way the sorry state trooper was going I thought it was going to be all my fault. Yes I had all of my flashers and work lights on since it was 9 o'clock at night.

Problem there being that if they want all these laws enforced they have to be enforceable, for example something that they can see happening and they have to have enough officers to enforce them. According to studies you have to have one officer ON DUTY for each 1000 population. Now to get to those numbers one of 2 things have to happen. A. the democrates have to stop buying vote with welfare and other give away programs and dump that money into the police forces or B. the nnalert have to agree to tax at higher rates. I kinda like the first idea cause if they do the second one they (all the politicians regardless or party) will not use the money wisely!

we have (had) alot of manufactured housing business here so a lot of hot shots and their escort cars (usually beat up clunkers) running the roads. It was incredibly aggravating when they flag cars try to "control traffic". THey have NO legal authority to do so. I didn't/don't yield to them, they do not own my lane.

It doesn't matter what you're driving you must yield if you cross the center line to on coming traffic. Yes,.. that includes farm equipment. Yes that means you may have to pull off the road until traffic clears.
