Hot Water Heater....Hmmmmmm...

If the device heats COLD water, wouldn't it be a "COLD water heater"? Or simply a "water heater"?

If you're starting with hot water, I don't see much point in heating it.

Yeah, I know "hot water heater" is a common phrase...but it just seems like a misuse of the language to me.

Ya in my area they are called water heaters but yep I hear them cold hot water heaters which doe not make sense. But then it is a common thing with the English language. Like Here, and hear etc or to , too and two

well now,,forgive me but i m gonna take a stab at being intellectual : the initial cycle is that of getting cold water- hot-. but after that the unit keep the hot wader -hot-, "such as i never run out of hot water no matter how long i ran the shower."

Why do we call them APARTments when they are all hooked together? How about airplanes? They tell you to get on the plane, NOT me I will get IN. Why do we call it taking a leak when we don't take it, we leave it.
