Gap between manifold and engine block

Ive got a 9n ford tractor and has had an exhaust leak since ive had it but have noticed its been getting worse. Ive had for a year and its got a gap between the manifold and engine block and I move the gasket around. Ive tried to take the manifold off but it feels like Im breaking the studs so I quit and tightened the bolts back. I havent owned one of these tractors before but Ive done a few things to it like rebuild the hydrolics, so I think if i could get pointed in the right direction I could fix it just dont know where to start any help from yall proud N owners would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Well, you have to get that manifold off. I don't remember if they have studs with nuts on or capscrews holding them on. If nuts, use a nut buster, if capscrew, well, a lot of tapping on the end and patience. If they will move at all then penetrating oil will help. I would spray them down anyway and let soak and spray them again. If you go to heating them, of course you will have to get all gasoline related parts off and away from tractor. New after market manifolds are very reasonable for that tractor, at least they were about five years ago. It is probably cracked also, if not you can get it resurfaced.

Well first off if you ask this down in the 9N/2N/8N forum you will get a lot more help. If it has the correct nuts on it then they should be brass so as not to be a problem. As for the gap the longer you run it the bigger that gap will get. You may have to replace the manifold if it is bad enough and or do some work to that area of the block to fill in the pits
