For those of you that use Netflix video services I thought I'd ask your views on the price increases announced today.

The plan I have will be going from $9.99 to $15.98 +8% tax on Sept. 26th. That is over a 60% increase.

I have called and voiced my displeasure and suggest all subscribers do the same.

On September 25th I plan to send them at least a temporary message by putting my account on vacation hold for a period of time. I'd urge you to do the same.

I can't say that I will drop Netflix altogether, but I will either change plans or do just that.

I may try the Amazon Prime shipping customer free movies instead although the movies to select from are about half those available at Netflix.

That was news to me,so I checkd it out and sure enough come sept there is that increase and thats quite an increase,,like you I am going to put my membership on hold ,hopefully enough people will do the same, dont know if itwill help but have to try something.

I kinda like the 'plus' cause my son rigged up the computer and it plays in HD and surround on the big tv.

They also have some cool old stuff like some pre-talkie Laurel & Hardy.

Also Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. How cool is that?

I watch most of my video streamed from Internet to my television through a Roku player. I bought the middle level model for $89. New models due out soon. Old pricing started at $59 but I don't think that model had a remote.

Hulu streams through it if a subscriber. Lots of free and paid as well with more added frequently. One of my better investments.

$16 is still pretty cheap if you family watches alot, $16 to rent movies and shows that are worth watching rather than the crud that is on now is well worth it.

Never been that bored that i needed to pay to watch a movie in my own home.Plenty of free stuff on tv or old tractors i can work on.

Saw an article that said 30% of nighttime bandwidth is now going to Netflix. I have that same plan, didn't know it was going up. I'm gonna do what you're doing.

Heck, I already got rid of my satellite, now this.

greenbeanman,

Sorry to say the big guys have got us, they raise the price high enough and they can't loose.

They would have to loose 60% of their customer base to feel it.

Since the writers strike a few years ago all we seem to get is re runs and re runs of the re runs then a new episode and more re runs.

What we get on expressvu ( not cheap ) which amounts to about 20 stations and Bell owns most of them. I've thought about netflix don't think it will work on dial up and they are talking about more $$$ for down load time, so again it's all about $$$$. The Movie stations are a joke Not worth $20 a month, mostly old series and older movies.
