Man I have seen a lot of dry weather in my 83 yrs. But this heat here in Oklahoma is getting critical.Ninteen days no rain and temp from 101 to 106. Soil tempeture 84 degree a 12 inch. Make you wonder why we pump water 24 hrs. a day cause it does not hardly hold it's own. Have had two cutting and the third is green & growing so guess it is worth it. Heard fom a fellow dairynan in NE Oklahoma he is on a rural water district and the pump went down and do not have money to buy a new pump so everyone is out of water. Cows can go to a creek for water but still lost two, Milking Parlor is a dity mess. Suppose it is about time for the inspector to come and wrie him up.

I think this year is going to be one for the books in just about every aspect. Drought, flood, fires, earthquakes, on and on. Certain parts of North Carolina have received sufficient rainfall, but here in the central part and eastern part it's drought conditions. I think we have already set several records for heat, high 80s today and 97 forecast for tomorrow with heat index above 100.
I'm 72 and I agree with you, it's about the worst I have ever seen.

I was out in it all day saturday and it about done me in,hard on a old guy!tractor seat so hot i think I blistered something and not a whole lot cooler at night.Got one of those papers that oec puts out in the mail last week.artical said its drier so far than in the dust bowl days, but its simply not been dry as long.if its this hot now i think I'll just skip august and stay inside.we did have a little sprinkle here last week just enough to raise the humidity and make it feel hotter.I was planning on planting the last of my crop ground back to grass this fall, but if this weather dont break soon thats going to be out.

Ya not much better here in Missouri. Been a couple weeks since we got much of any rain and heat is in the upper 90s at the least. Bank in town said 95 and the other one said 100. Been watering the garden every other night but not sure if it is helping or not. Have tons of tomato's but few are turning red for some odd reason

south of altus OK.. don't think we've had 2 inches since september...haven't had to start my mower all year....afraid to set something on fire....selling a few cows and probly have to sell more.

Get our weather report from Louisville Ky. A couple of nights ago the weather man stated that they were within 2 inches of the total yearly average rainfall, about 43 inches.

Just laid by some sorghum cane a few minutes ago that had never been cultivated because of being too wet. It was brushing the front axle on an IH 140, with more rain predicted in the next day or so.
Joe

If we have normal average yearly rainfall for 2011 we are in big trouble for the rest of the year.

It's been 98-106 degrees here in northwest Kansas,... just 'bout like any other typical "summer."

June was dry though, second cutting of alfalfa sure didn't amount to much,... about 2 more weeks and I should be cutting the third cutting (at least it got a little rain on it last week).

95 degrees here now, heat index of 123. Dew point of 79. Humidity plum off the charts. We did get a good rain 3 days ago. (now boosting the humidity as it steams up outta the ground)

In the last few years, we've had the wettest fall winter on record, followed by a hurricane (yes, in Kentucky) then a severe ice storm, then the coolest summer on record, followed by another wet fall, then the hottest summer on record, with extreme drought, then the wettest April and may on record here, now blistering heat.

I tried plumbing up hydraulics on a loader in the shop this morning. When I looked down and saw a water puddle under me and realized it was sweat, I called it a day. The AC was running in the shop office, with me or without....I chose the "with". Here I sit.

I must be getting old. Never let the weather stop me before.

How far from Altis are you. Please send me an e-mail at Daleprattatnetacsdotnet. Would like to talk to you.

I've got the same problem with tomatoes right now. Our little canning tomatoes are all ripening, but the big slicers are just sitting there looking at me. Oh well....

Christopher

Shoot I might have picked all of 3 or 4 so far. The plants have so much fruit on them that they are now falling over from the weight. Had plants standing 6 foot plus but now they are 6 foot plus all over the ground and soft ball size fruit on the slicers and pear size on the roma's
