Bull seems to be declining

Bull sneezes and seems to have the sniffles. Also his body condition is not near what it was a year ago. what might be some possible reasons? He is about 8 years old.

I would recommend loading him up and selling him immediately. Around here butcher bulls are bringing .50-.75 per pound. I had one acting funny and let him go, cows ended up being bred 2 months late and he died on me. Get what money you can out of him now.

A sick bull wont breed. You'll end up with open cows.
8 yrs is getting old for breeding anyway,Get rid of him.

Bovine Viagra!!
I agree with the others. Time for new blood in the herd and a few hundred pound of hamburger!

Also, if he has a fever, even after he recovers, he will be sterile for some time after he gets well. Definitely not the kind of thing you want to see in the breeding season. If he's working right now I would definitely get the vet down to check him out and/or get a replacement bull ASAP.

A couple of years ago my neighbor had a rented bull that seemed to be working hard all summer. After two months, the panic set in when he realized every single cow was still coming around. The bull was semen tested and proven (just not recently before he was put to work). He didn't breed a single cow in the first month, but I think it turned out that he started breeding some right before he turned into bologna.
