I decided to purchace the CIH 8530 inline baler($5000)(see the earlier post)I can pay for it on time(I hope I can bale enough hay to pay for it!)Makes the best bale-perfect shape and hard as a rock! Its kinda strange to straddle a windrow instead of going beside it.Not as much capacity as the old NH283,but adequet.and....I ordered a
book!,it came today.

I hope so.thats a lot of money.besides tractors,its the most expencive piece of equipment I"ve ever bought.Ifarm with "bones"...junk

Hi, Glad to hear you are happy with it. You must have chanced on a good one. I work for a guy who does custom haying and has a small square and a mid sized Hesston inline. They are the most worthless baler made. The small one can't make two bales the same length or the same weight, and is certainly not a high production machine. First or second gear all the time. I begin to wonder if I will ever get done baling a field. Have to put in new pickup bearings every two years. I work on the mid size as much as I bale with it. You can't make a square corner with either one of them. Give me a good ole John Deere baler anytime. I wouldn't own an inline if you gave it to me bought the parts.

I had a 8520 for a few years and it was the smoothest baler I ever ran, bale size was constant ,made a nice bale and you didnt have to turn the corners the same way all the time and also if you did a little road travel to get from one field to another it trailed down the road real nice. I think you will really enjoy this thing

You should be happy with that purchase. I"ve got a Hesston 4550 in-line (the smallest of the lineup) and it's been absolutely bulletproof. I was sure surprised with "RetiredFarmers" comments about the Hesston balers he works with. 'Gotta be something terribly wrong there somehow. By the way, how are you going to pick up all these bales? Funny (true) story, I bought my baler used from an older couple. The wife was the one who "sold" it to me. She said she was 78 years old and "the old man don't need that dang baler anymore...and besides, I ain't gonna pick them damn bales up for him anymore"! (actual quote)

When my dad was farming he bought a brand new Hesston 4550, the factory knotters had something wrong with them, but after they got replaced that thing was a beast. Couldn't feed it fast enough, and the bales were always perfect. Great machine, neighbors would even hire us to bale their hay. Never missed a bale after the first year. Which was bad for me, dad felt everything needed to baled then.
