We have two cats, spayed females, who have the run of the farm. They're fed in the garage on our house, and enter and leave the garage through a small pet door in one walk-in door in the garage.
My wife had an appointment for them with the vet this morning for shots and checkups, so when the cats were both in the garage last night she locked the pet door so they'd be here this morning. They weren't. Sometime during the night those critters figured out how to unlock the pet door.
My wife still caught them this morning in time to go to the vet, but I guess we know what not to depend on in the future.
