got 6 inches of rain in 12 hours ,,, My farm has a couple 1 acre sink hole bowls that will hold wate r for most of a week after such crazy weather ...corn was shoulder height and was completely submerged ,, its been a week since dried out ,,dont think the non gmo corns gonna come back ,, had a beautiful stand of beans about 4 inches tall that appears shot to hel .. What can I grow after using atrazine on corn and r-up and extreme on beans?? ,, got acouplehundred pounds of potatoes i can plant,, and i can try sweet corn ,, any ideas

Here in eastern Iowa it would be to late to replant corn. Sweet corn might still make a crop.

Beans might get your replant expenses back. Where are you located?

I have three 1 acre drown outs and 1 3 acre hole that drowned out.

I'm not gonna touch them. I would have to knock down good corn to get to them.

Happens about every year on a couple of the spots.

Happens to me 2 out of 5 yrs here in harrison co IND . 18miles s/west of Louisville KY.. I can get into bothspots ,,, Wonder if Beans would suffer from Atrazine???? it was sprayed 20-30 days ago ...dontthink potatoes will have a problem in either spot , but not sure ,No Mancan be an Island , You guys are wonderful Band of Brothers to learn from and teach great worx ..

I'd do beans where I could, they grow up here through July 4th or 10th or so, depends on the rest of summer of course.

The atrazine will be an issue, haven't used it so can't say but yes its something to consider in whatever you replant in those spots.

It takes 1500-2000 pounds of spuds to plant an acre. How are you going to plant/hill/harvest them??? Are you sure the heavy rain is done? Taters don't like wet feet any more than corn and beans.

Maybe Milo? But ask chemical people and I also think maybe if you plow it you might be alright with beans?A lot depends on how much Atrazine you put on it.

Milo (sorgum) would be fine with atrazine . All kinds of it from short bird resinsence grain to very tall forage varieties. Beauty of it is needs warm soil to germinate.Maybe there are livestock farmers who could use forage.Downfall is you need to be aware of prusic acid poisning after FROST MIGHT KILL IT.Havent planted for many years but was a very small seed cost in those days.We planted it in with corn an sure made a lot of forage an was helpful controlling erosion on hill side farm.Seems to me we got about15 acres in 38inch to a bushel of seed.

Passed through southern IN tuesday on Interstate from Indianpolis to louisville. Saw lots of flood outs and short corn and beans fro late planting. Saw some flooded fields alomg a stream. Think the Interstate being built up may have added to the flooding problem.

We have the opposite problem with rain in SC.

Grew up on a river bottom where there were plenty of corn fields that got under water to the point that you couldn't see the corn twice before harvest. It always matured and they always picked it. Not sure what they did with it afterwards. Maybe he collected insurance money on it and unloaded it to pigs somewhere???

2 yrs ago I planted beans where the corn was flooded out on June 19th. Corn was R-ready and was sprayed with roundup and 1 lb of atrazine.
Beans were not affected by any atrazine residue.
Had a killing frost on Sept. 30th,beans were green but matured after frost and made 30bu./acre
