Has anyone ever heard of a 52 B that was missing the serial number? The tag is there in good condition, but no serial number on it. thanks

It will be there, just very faint. When I jot mine home I thought the same thing. After much washing, rubbing, and with a flashlight after dark one evening, and light showing at just the right angle I found it to be 300505. Its almost like they bearly touched the plate with the number. I didn't want to use steel wool or something like that because might be gone for good then. Good Luck!

I did not say the tag I said the part which the tag is one and that can be replaced and has been on oh so many tractors over the years due to things braking

This is pretty common on 1952 John Deeres and even Minneapolis Molines. They switched to steel tags due to the Korean war.

You can buy blank tags for restored tractors where the tag is missing or beat up.I doubt that any one gives a RA about the serial number on a 1952 tractor.

Hello Carlyle, here is the picture of the tag.
I cleaned it the best I could and there almost appears to be a 0 to the far right, but not sure. If it is a 0 is it the normal size? I don't have any other tractor to compare it to.

Thanks

It seems odd to me that the area where the serial number should be on your tractors tag is no where near a smooth as the remainder of the tag with no stampings. It appears as if someone years ago applied acid to that spot. I wonder what the back side of the number area of the SN tag looks like.

it's a stolen tractor!, once used to harvest illegal barley to make beer for the speak easy's, some mobster's grand son probably sat on it!,any bullet holes in it? just think of how much more it's worth with that kind of history
