Life alert buttons you wear -- Suggestion

I had thought about this a long time ago... The idea
came up one day when a neighbor close my old homestead rolled his tractor. He wasn't hurt but darn lucky. I told him to take one of those mercury switches like from a thermostat --- rig it up to a horn and put a flasher in between that and a 3 way switch

If the tractor rolled, and he was pinned it would work automatically ---- if he just got sick or unable to drive he could throw the switch the other way and it would still work. at least it may draw attention.

Good idea................ But if I do something stupid, no matter how alone I may be, someone is going to be there to see it........Never fails.........
Don't know what it's like there, but the cheap prepay cell phones you get here will let you receive calls and call the 911 equivelant whether you have money on them or not. Guess you folks have reception problems though?

I keep a cell phone in my overall bib pocket. Its turned off so no one can bug me.I favor overalls with a zipper pocket.I dont use it much,The cell phone seems to be a pest for most people.I use it to call customers when their fence chargers are ready.I see some dungarees have a cell phone pocket now .Cell phone could be a big help for anyone who works alone.Coverage is pretty good here since a lot of new towers have been put up.Open top pockets on overall bibs are usless. The pockets fill with hay chaff, sawdust and dirt.

Old Roy,
Life alert buttons are line cordless phones. If you get a few hundred feet from the base, they won't work....get a cell phone.
George.

Cell phone may not be as good either if you get pinned the right way-- may not be able to reach it.

at least the tractor could be calling for help.

That guy though it to be a dumb idea too, but so was the hula hoop.

Roy, I had an old friend who was pretty crippled up, but still as independent as a hog on ice. He lived about a quarter mile from his neighbors, and I was always afraid he'd get down and die in the hot sun before anyone checked on him. I showed him how to use the horn button on his key fob to make his car horn honk and attract someone's attention. It would be useless though if you were too far from the car.
