Can't believe I did that.

Planted half my beans to liberty link this year. Other half roundup. I bet you know where I'm going with this. Yep, you are right. Sprayed a two acre field of liberty beans with roundup this morning. Had my notes right in my shirt pocket but did not look at them because "I remember what I planted where". Ya right. As soon as I realized my mistake I hooked on the digger and went right out and worked it up. Two hours after my mistake I had them replanted. Still have to clean the planter out though.

I got an 11 acre field with 9.5 acres of LL corn in it. The other 12rows plus 1/4 of a round is RU.

Oh, my brain hurts when I drive - now am I ok, am I in the right field????

And with all the rain, things have not lowed well, so everything is scramble, and do 1/2 fields..... I just know I'm gonna screw that up.

Well, this evening the Ford 5000 came to a stop with the sprayer behind, fluttered a few times, then died. Grrrr. See what's up in the morning. Not much of a diesel mechanice, change filter and that's about as much as I know.

Believe it. Dad failed to tell me that when we came up on an extra 30 acres at the last minute and he went to get more seed corn, he came back with conventional corn. I put down the full rate of 2 lbs atrazine pre-emerge and then hit it over the top with roundup last thursday. She's dead and gone now, and no choice but to plant corn on top of it with that atrazine. Only had to plant beans once as late as the 4th, if I can get 75-90 bpa on this corn I will be happy as can be to get my inputs covered.

For the sake of learning from your mistake, why would you use roundup in the first place? Or did you think you were spraying fertilizer? Guess I B ignant when it comes to that stuff........
Reminds me........... I've got about a quarter acre covered in nettle that needs sprayed............

YES, Chemicals and Seed TRAITS have Really Made us stop and think things thru ,, I Feel For You , And You are not the 1st to goof , So Don't beat yourself Up ,, I FLUSH the Sprayer And Put Bean Chemical Flush water on one side of shed and non gmo Corn Chemical Flush on the Other ,, Ocassionaly I can Rerun this chemical watr ,m However most time it ends up on thefence rows , especially if I am in Doubt as to what is in it...

At least the field was that small. I've only ever used RR corn and beans. Did you find a problem weed(s) in the past that needed Liberty ready crop to help clean it up and did it help? I'm thinking of changing my normal plan for next year. Have had a couple weeds that are hard to kill last year and this year with roundup. Wondering, do many or all seed companies have choices with Liberty ready seed or is just select ones? Thanks

Yes. I have been getting more and more weeds that are harder to kill with ru. I want to rotate every year with LL and ru. But did not want to jump in completely as LL beans are just new on market and what if they only yield 20 per acre on my farm. So just making a test run this year with four fields about 50 acres in LL and three fields about 80 acres ru. Alot on my mind lately with state condeming some of our land to build new hyway. But no excuse as I had very complete notes right in my shirt pocket. One brite spot to this is while I had planter hooked up I went around and patched in some drowned out acres that otherwise I would not have fiddled with.

Why WOULDN'T you use Roundup on Roundup-ready beans and corn? That's the whole point of planting such seed. Spray it with Roundup and everything but the corn/beans dies.

The problem arises when you plant some that isn't Roundup-ready, then spray it with Roundup...

I think I'll be heading your way with working some Liberty link crops in. I had a problem with waterhemp?? in beans last year. Same farm but half mile away has something else this year. Palmer amaranth maybe. No problems anywhere else that I've seen yet. NW IN.

Wasn't trying to be smart...really didn't know.hard to ask questions of the farmers here without them thinking you are snooping...

I drove by you when you were digging up your beans. I almost ran off the road, because I couldn't believe someone would dig up such nice looking beans, considering this spring's weather. Those beans really looked nice! Probably the nicest I have seen in the county. I read your posting on here and everything made sense then. I am sure you are wondering how I know that was you along the hwy. I work in Mankato and I live 33 miles NW of Mankato. Too bad you had to replant. Sounds like you are a very busy fella with many things on your mind. Best of luck on the replant. Take Care.
