fuel line connections

I am replacing the gas tank and sediment bowl on my Ford 8N. Should I use something (compound or tape) on the new connections and/or old reconnections?

Wouldn't hurt a thing and might save you some serious aggravation. Just be sure that you do NOT let tape lap end of fitting and get into the gas flow stream.

When I was in the Wholesale business selling pipe and fittings to plumbers, they always told me that when you are joining a brass fitting to another brass fitting there is no need for any joint compound or tape. Brass is soft enough that any minor deformities in the threads are taken up normal pressure with a wrench and thus provide the seal.

sed bowl to tank, something for sur elike gasoila.. on the flair nuts to the carb and sed bowl, nothing as the threads don't seal.. the faces and flanges do.

Thanks to all of you guys. Your information will be helpful. Right now I have drained the gas tank dry and disconnected the front lights. Instrument panel and dog leg bolts are out. Will disconnect the fuel line at both ends. Just waiting for my son-in-law to help me lift the hood off the N8. Wish it hinged up like the old N9's but I'm off to a good start. Now if I could just get one of the spindle bearings off/out of the King Kutter finish mower and replaced, and put on a new belt, I'll be as good as new! Thanks again!
