Coupla girls made an appointment to see one of our horses for sale.... Said they had to give one they bought back to the seller because of some problems and asked if they could bring a "pro" to look at the horse. We don't advertise something for sale unless we are proud of it and willing to stand behind it., so said "sure". They show up today with the "pro" being the woman that they gave the original horse back to. Came to the house first and the dogs did't like them (the Pro was dominating all conversations). Took them to the horse and the girls couldn't even talk because the other one was constantly yacking and pointing out problems, etc....
Finally got tired of it after a couple calls on her cell phone and told them that we had nothing they'd be interested in and it was time for them to leave... Told the girls that if they were interested, they could pick a vet for a check and I'd pay for it. Other one yacked all the way to the car, the the two kids got in and the wife and I drove off letting the other one walk about a mile to the house. Had a nice talk with the two kids that were looking for a horse and may see them again........

Did I mention that I have people skills????????????

Hoooreay for you . I think I'd have booted that yacker before you did . Dealing with the public is not fun at times . But occassionally you meet a nice one . I had a contractor years ago want a piece of machinery I was thinking about selling .It was like new , used only a couple times . Had over $1,000.00 in it new . I had to special order it at the time . He said he'd give me $525.00. I told him I didn't feel like giving it away , especially to him . So I closed the shop doors & said good bye & walked away . Several years later a young contractor who knew his equipment neeeded it for a certain job he was doing . I said my price & he shelled out cash . Now being cash I even knocked some off . Cash makes conversations more appealing , ya think .God bless

Nothing in the world worse than a 'Horse Expert' and the funny thing is none of ever agree with other 'horse experts'.If 2 'experts' disagree at least on of them is full of horse s...

I have people come look sometimes at a tractor i have for sale. They run it down, try to point out every flaw on a 30 year old tractor, and tell you how much cheaper they can buy one somewhere's else.I usually say go buy it,shut the building lights off and shut the door while there standing there looking shocked.I usually compliment a man on his tractor even if i don't like it,no use making somone mad and you might get a better price.

It's a spin off from shameless self promotion. If a "hired opinion" didn't claim to see things no one else could see, why they'd be no different than you or me, 'cept you might actually know something about horses.

When you said "Pro" I wondered where things were heading however a big mistake bringing a spurned seller to appraise another sellers horses, of course there are numerous faults.
I think the carrot may be the right colour.who could resist?.

What end was this overbearing lady PRO of ?

Sounds like ya was standing to the south face to face with her, and she was talkin out her south end.

Ya know the saying it takes one to know one ?

Sounds like she was trying to CON ya. --- LOL
By the way your people skills are getting better.

Sounds a lot like a "friend" of a lady who is buying one of our horses for her son. The "friend" was trying to sell her all kinds of horses that had either a health problem or a training/attitude problem or both. They came and checked out our mare, we were completely honest with them about her and the fact that she had only very basic ground work done with her and they would have to train her. They liked that she was calm and friendly and had no major ailments. They agreed to our asking price because we were willing to take payments and deliver after all the payments were made. Then the same "friend" offered to trailer her for them for $1200......it's right around 200 miles one way. I figured we could do it for around $500 and I even felt a bit bad about that but they were very happy with it.
The "friend" that was a "horse expert" was only trying to sell them her problems.

I always like how people, especially the "experts", can point out flaws and tell you how they can go right down the road and buy a better, newer, or bigger of whatever you"re selling for half the price.... they obviously should be there instead of wasting my time.

we get some real winners........Had someone come to see a puppy we have for sale.....It came running to meet them and the guy started clapping his hands and running toward it. Little guy got scared and mom came out of the corner and was just about at the guy when I yelled at her. Sent the folks packing right away. His wife emailed that if you look at a puppy you are supposed to do that so you can find out if they are scared or not. Wrote back that they better hope the puppy isn't scared of strangers now or I'd be there to collect the 700 bucks or take it out of her old man's a$$...........
