If you can listen to Jacobs Dream by Alison Krauss without welling up,you don't have a heart. Especially since it's a true story.

Just heard Silver and Gold by Dolly Parton on the radio. By far her best song in my opinion.

And if you're talking about downer songs about Sunday, "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" by Johnny Cash comes to mind. (Not bluegrass, of course).

a little off topic of your off topic, but I recently listened to Desperado waiting for a train by Jerry Jeff Walker........didn't realize how much I missed it and had to buy every album that guy made, not much for tearjerkers, but fan of good music.. listening to London Homesick Blues right now--I may have to try and remember more from the past....

Ive heard and liked plenty of his stuff, a Texan as I recall and does train songs I believe??

"That's What I Love About Sunday" by Craig Morgan is a really nice song. Not a tearjerker necessarily, but it's a good song nonetheless.

"Stray Dogs and Alley Cats", by the late Harley Allen.

It perfectly describes my thoughts about getting into heaven with all of my imperfections. I know, forgiven is forgiven, but we still have our wonders and doubts.

The version of "Down to the River To Pray" that's on the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack & "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'" sung by Harry Belafonte. The latter, because it gives hope that there are better times to come after this sad-azz world.

Mike

Mac Wiseman is probably my favor-ite. Some by him, some by others. Bringing Mary Home, Little Rosewood Casket, Mary of the Wild Moor, Soldier's Last Letter, Letter Edged in Black, She's Dead in the Boxcar Ahead, etc.

On a polka CD my sister's band made when they were still active is a song in waltz tempo titled "How Far Is Heaven?"

It's about a little girl whose Daddy has died and she keeps asking her Mom how far it is to heaven 'cause she wants to go see him.

Fathers Table Grace (Lester Flatt) always gets me. If you can listen to that and not get tore up there's not much to you as a man.
