rrlund -- 127 yard sale in Kentucky

rrlund -- have you ever went across Kentucky from Covington down to the Tennessee line during the sale? the reason I ask is to find out how active it is, my Wife likes to stop at just about every yard that has anything and of course at the bigger gathering places so we don"t make many miles a day in the busy areas. Trying to space out motel reservations along the way. In north Alabama and most of southeast Tennessee it seemed like just about every house had something going on.

I don't know what there is north of Florence, that's where we usually get off 75 and start in,but it's reasonably busy. It's so darned hilly up that way that they tend to be congregated to where there's open space. From Owenton on down to Frankfort it's spotty, but where there are flea markets, they're fairly good sized. You'd better plan on a whole day from Danville to Liberty. There's a big one at the fairgrounds in Danville, then an even bigger one just south of town. The whole pavilion at the Agri Center in Liberty is packed full of vendors. It's spotty again then to Russell Springs, but busy there. There's some pretty good ones then on down either side of the dam. Albany is the last town before the state line, but it's real good there too.
If it was me and I was going to start on the south end and go north,I'd start in Albany of course, then plan to spend Thursday night in Russell Springs. Friday night,Danville. Saturday night, north side of Frankfort then hope they don't shut down too early Sunday afternoon the rest of the way up. It's been my experience that they tend to want to close down around 2PM on Sundays.

We're staying down on Dale Hollow Lake for a few nights before it starts. Plan to head over to Clark Range Tennessee the first day. Stay at the lake Thursday night, head up through southern Ky on Friday. Stay at the wifes sisters place in Lexington that night then head over north of Frankfort on Saturday. I want to get up in to southern Ohio on Sunday.

Thanks for the info -- thats a big help. We are going to leave Louisiana Sunday and spend a day with an Aunt and Uncle in West Lafayette Indiana then across to Cincinatti with a day or so to fool around before heading south on thursday morning. Ought to work out good to make it to Frankfort on the first day if it gets spotty past Owenton.

That should work. The problem you get into when you get south of Danville is that there aren't many larger towns to find a motel. If you CAN find something around Liberty instead of Russell Springs, that would be best for Saturday night, but I think picking will be slim to find a motel.
When you get to Dunnville, just for laughs, stop in at that old general store on the right hand side of the road. It's right across the road from the newer one where they have everything, but the 2 old ladies in the old store have been there for about 60 years and they're a real hoot to talk to.

My problem is finding the highway from the belt on the north side of the Ohio river and then the maps showed it to be continued on the south side. Got just North of Lexington a ways and all of a sudon all road signs ended and no highway even tho listed on different maps. I take it all the way comming down from northern Ohio and would like to find it between Cinncinati and Lexengton but cannot find it.

Just watch for the 127 sign at the Florence exit. You make a right at the end of the ramp and follow it out of town. The yard sales and flea markets start up just a couple of minutes off of 75. There's some pretty good flea markets right out there.

Hey,by the way,do you take it all the way in to Cincinnati? I usually turn off 127 at Eaton Ohio and take State Route 122 over to Middletown, jump on 75 to Florence Ky then get back on it. Coming back,we've gotten off at Middletown then taken another road that comes out farther south of Eaton and come up,but it seems pretty sparse down that way. Not worth going through Cincinatti for sure unless it gets better south of where we've gotten back on it a few times.

Usually hit at Greenville but at times hit at Celina that is just west of me 30 mile. Hate driving interstate. When I get down close to belt there is anouther route that angled of to west that I would take. When would go down but that was a few years ago was to family. Havent gotten to see grandkids in over 6 years down at Middlrbuorough, Ky.

We will stop in and see the two old ladies, that kind of place is right up my alley. I lined up a room toward the interstate for Saturday night because the atlas showed all small towns and I figured if there were any rooms they are already booked up.
