new holland model 56 side delivery rake

Grease. Most of the New Holland rollabar rakes I've dealt with have the seals go bad in relatively short order, usually at the most inoportune time (hay laying) and before the operator ever realizes it, the bearings and gearbox are already red hot and shot. Filled several with grease and ran for years with no problems.
 
New Holland issued a bulletin to all us dealers.
Regardless of what the manual says to use a gun
grease when adding or replacing. I don't recall
what grease but this subject is still alive if
you scroll back some days/weeks. Chuck
 
Manual was revised, grease. JD cornhead grease is good, Agco dealers have something similar, wheel grease works too but the other 2 are probably better, as they are designed to lube a gearset but not leak out the seals....
