I have a 1993 F250 with a 5.8 and auto trans, the truck was running and just stopped firing. Changed the dist, plugs, some kind of module(electric), oil. It has plenty of gas and is getting gas. Just wont crank. Any Ideal where to go from here? Thanks

by crank, do you mean turn over? Or does it turn over but just not start? I had a 91 that stopped like that and replaced the distributor (because of the pickup/module inside and the coil. Don't know which one fixed it but believe it was the coil.

I have a 93 E350 that gave me a lot of grief. I changed sensors, ignition switch, etc with intermitant results. Sometimes it worked, ran fine, and sometimes it would die at a stop light. It needed to be towed a few times.

The one common clue to "no start" was when I'd turn the ignition switch on, the dash lights would come on going through the usual prestart check of all systems. When it would not go through this sequence, no amount of cranking would do a bit of good. Finally in desperation, I borrowed the main computer from a buddy's F250 of same year and engine. Problem solved!!

It turns out that in the computer box, there can be some corrosion between the circuit board and the 39 pin connector. The corrosion made the intermittant condition depending on damp weather, temps, and pure ornery bad magic.

The computer would not throw any error codes.

Good Luck

not sure if the 90's model had the brain box on the fender wells that controlled the dist. like the 80's had. if that the modular you are referring to. maybe even check key unit end of steering column to see if it wearing out and loosing connection.'long shot'. can also go to FTE.com site and see what other ford owners have to say with their experience.

Crank ? Do you mean engine will not turn over or rotate ? Is stater engauging and spinning ? Or do you mean it is turning over but will not start ? If you have no spark I have seen alot of them with bad conectors at the ignition coil , pull them out and check them over . Do you have fuel pressure ? How many lbs ?

We need to know if the starter cranks the engine, but no start, or no starter at all. The TFI modules were known to be poor. There was a class action suit on that. Does the check engine light come on when the key is on? The EEC power relay powers up the PCM and Ign modules.

Sorry, I ment it will turn over and it will not fire through the module?, between the module and distubtor. I am going by what I was told. I just purchased the truck at auction. The dist was replaced with a complete rebuilt one. Also the guages on the dash do work and lights come on. I am thinking maybe a broken wire?

Thanks for all the replies. I won't be back on here until tomorrow night.

Did you check to see if it has an inertia (sp) sw that is maybe kicked out? This sw stops the fuel pump from running. My 95 F150 has one and its behind the RH kick panel. There is a notch in the panel where you can get your finger in there to get to the red reset button.
