WAY O/T, Theme Parks in N.C, TN,or Virginia

Looking for some place to go to in the North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia area, Amusement Park wise, with Train rides, & smaller parks preferred. Been to Tweetsie Railroad, and loved it, been to Ghost Town in The Sky, closed now, looking for a nice clean, smaller, Park. Not interested in Dollywood. Heard of another Park in the are down there, but can not remember the name of it. All help greatly appreciated!

Tweetsie and Ghost Town are both great attractions. There used to be "The Land of Oz", which was based on "The Wizard of Oz". I believe they only open up for a few days in fall, now. I included a link to their website below. They are located near Beech Mountain and Emerald Mountain. Near Tweetsie Railroad (really right around the corner) is a small place called Mystery Hill. It is a nice attraction if you are going to be in that area.

While these are all nice places, the park you are thinking of may be Carowinds. We went a while back, and it is a nice place. They have a whole lot of roller coasters, as well as some other attractions. They recently installed a new "Intimidator" coaster (based on Dale Earnhardt) that is supposed to be really good. Carowinds is fairly small, but larger than Tweetsie Railroad.

There is a Busch Gardens in Virginia, and it was nice the last time we went (a long time ago). You might want to consider that.

There is a Kings Dominion park in Richmond, but I didn't care for it last time (5 years ago). It was laid out poorly, and the crowd was kind of trashy. They may be worth looking into, but Busch Gardens and Carowinds were better, in my opinion.

These are the attractions that I thought of off the top of my head. There are plenty more options that are worth exploring!

Good luck, SF

Well last I knew there was Bush gardens in VA and a place called lost lake in Sweet Water TN and those are just a couple I knew of but not sure either one are still open been well over 30 years since I was out that way LOL

Camden Park, Huntington WV right off the interstate 64 & Cass Scenic Railroad, Cass WV for a spectacular ride!
