New Zenith Carb on 4020

I bought a new Zenith carb for 4020. Upon installation I found no gas was going thru carb. Anyone no why a new carb would not be allowing gas to go thru.

The float is just stuck. It can happen if the carb was shipped upside down. Just rap on the side of the bowl with a screw driver handle. Lightly, that should knock it loose. If not then you will have to remove the carb and take the bowl off and see what is wrong.

I had checked to see if float was stuck but that was not the problem. The only thing I can think of is the jet is not open but being a new carb maybe it is just a defective or clogged jet.

Tom did you check to see if the needle valve the float works is opening?? The float can still move even is the needle valve is stuck.

Also take out the inlet fitting. It should have a screen made on it. I have seen them get plugged by the first flush of gas through an empty tank and lines. Small rust and dirt can be washed right in.

Also when you say no gas through the carburetor. Are you meaning an empty bowl?? Or not running/starting??

JDSeller, By no gas I meant there was not any gas in the carb bowl when I removed it. I tried to see if I could blow air in it and could not. I am thinking the jet is blocked, I have since discovered I was shipped the wrong carb. Although it may work for either a 3020 or 4020 it was not the Zenith I ordered. I am planning on talking to shipper and send it back and will ask for the one I ordered.
