nice flower but is it really that dry down there to see cactus I thought those were in the desert. Well if things go good up here for me gonna have to come and see for myself, dont be surprised if you hear some scratchen at the door some day

Yes,we are that dry.only 4 to 6" annual rainfall.we are a 'high desert' at 5000 feet. Our valley is the dryest spot in the state of Colorado

What the heck do people live off there,Looks like one needs 6000 acre to feed a cow there

Im in Tucson for the summer. And have been working at a mine doing a lot of outside work. I have no idea how anything grows out here. And I hate those "jumping" cactus. They hurt like heck. They do have beautiful flowers though.

Do you guys have smart phones that post pics all the time i have to send pic to email file it then download it then post it I would never get anything done if I put that many pics on here

have a phone that takes pics but dont know how to use it. I just use the camera and down load, it does not take long once i learned how to do it

after looking at a lot of your pictures , I had to look up your climate 7.92 average rainfall and it's fairly cool to . It must be hard to raise a crop of that good looking hay and expensive too. that makes a cow cost a lot doesn't it ?

I've always thought the yucca was the worst. Leaves sharp as a sword blade. Always seem to get stuck by one or two every time we visit our vacation home.

Pretty flowers, but I don't know why the cactus bother with making them- the bees all starved to death years ago!

As you said below, everything is irrigated in that country- and one day, they'll run out of water. I guess at that point, it just all goes back to desert, pretty much over night.

This is a Hedgehog cactus that volunteered next to my walkway. The flowers are a very light pink and about the size of a quarter. The first picture is of a small single in full bloom, the second is of a larger cluster getting ready to bloom. I have seven different types of cacti here on the place, each blooms at a different time of June. All are late this year. I am at 5000 feet in Southern Utah, at the edge of Pinion and Juniper forest.
