john deere 1424 Hydroswing

Had one of those animals. Hydo-swing pivot broke and had to makee and install the shaft. Drive for sickle was a nigh-mare and cost a fortune to repair.

Id WAY rather have a 1014 than any cutter JD ever built........I owned a 1014 befor my 1160,,,,So whats wrong with a 1014?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Do not buy a JD!the wobble box will fail and cost hundreds of $ to fix.Buy the Hesston.there are thousands out there-good old bulletproof machines!

We've got a Hesston 1014+2 (twin sickle) and the only thing I'll say bad about the Hesston, is the crimper is only 4' wide so in thick hay, it doesn't crimp as well as the later models with wider rolls. It's also the 14' model so that's a LOT of hay to feed through those rolls.

On the other hand, I can remove the crimper and swath grain with it. Knocks more off than a draper head, but it still works ok. I think the guys combine knocks more off than our haybine does when he picks it up.
