OT: 1998 F150 question

I've got a truck question maybe somebody can help with. My 98 F150 with a 6 cylinder engine is suddenly building crank case pressure and popping up the dip stick. I don't have any check engine lights, engine runs well and doesn't use oil. I can work on the old Farmalls but todays vehicle engines boggle my mind. Is there anything I can check out before calling the dealer and possible spending a lot of money.

Replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve and make sure the hose that connects it to the intake manifold is open.
A couple $$ fix.

it also probably needs the hose to the pcv they become soft from oil and suck themselves shut. so replace hose and pcv.

We had one that blew a head gasket, if it's a 300 those long heads are famous for warping, not an expensive fix, but check the cheaper stuff first.
