Hi, can anyone help, rebuilding tractor and find the CAV rotary injector pump is not feeding fuel to injectors. Fuel is gravity fed to pump and a little trickle is coming out the bleed screw on the side of the pump, gear drive appears in order. Is there something I am missing on priming
using starter.

Kentb has good advice - bleed the filter first.
The bleeder screw on the side of the pump should squirt out not dribble - like 3-6 foot squirts.
You might have a clogged screen in the fuel tap at the bottom of the tank too. Try blowing air backwards through it to get you by till you have time to remove the tap and inspect/clean. Remove the tank cap before blowing.

bled everything, good flow coming from inlet pipe to pump , took the union of at this point to ensure shaft in pump was turning,OK, but diesel just trickling out of side bleeder on pump when removed, pipes to injectors uncoupled nothing coming through

CAV injector pumps with a fuel lift/primer setup have a tubular gause filter where the fuel enters the pump at one end .if the fuel pipe connects into a bigger nut/ reducer in the end fo pump the gause is under the big nut careful there are some small parts in there also , I hope this is of help

UD, thats good advise. My 4610 kept skipping and then just quit one day. I had no fuel at the pump, so I unscrewed the pet cock on the bottom of the fuel tank and who knows why it was plugged with debris. I cleaned it out and it's been fine ever since.

Definately bleed the filter first as stated. If you don't get good squirts of fuel you probably aren't going to bleed the pump. The last one I replaced filters on required bleeding the system at the injectors. Be patient and don't overheat the starter. They are great tractors. Hope this helps. Gerard

Hi, what if dirt did work its way into the pump what would be the result and could it be rectified, thanks

Hi, took out pump and had it checked, found to be internal shaft broken, £300 to replace.
Any ideas why it broke and how to avoid it breaking again ?

My tractor has the same problem, the side bleed screw does not squirt, it just drips that's normal, if the engine is not turning, my situation is that the shut off internal spring is stuck in the off position and has shut off all the fuel to the injectors, wash the unit off of grease and oil, open the top without removing the pump( will need a new gasket) and spray and work the spring with WD-40 or a oil lube non silicone, and try to crank again.
