4430 head gasket is seeping on occasion, 4000 hours, never been apart. Have used Bars Leaks for ages. Anything better in your opinion for this problem? Need a quick fix and will pull the head after planting is done.

Bob,

Don't know if it's still around, but Warner's Liquid Solder worked great for me a couple of times back in the day.

Has it dried out yet up there?

Not much done around Fishers . Was down there this AM at the heart hospital at Castleton. Glad I don't farm much down there anymore.

I'll just bet you are really happy you're where you are now. It's just too dang crowded in our old stomping grounds to suit me.

Brother Neil called last night. The guys that farm all around him are just getting started on corn, no beans in yet.

Unless you have combustion gases in the coolant, I'd try what Roy said, black pepper. I've used it on radiators with good success. I use about half a table size shaker of coarse ground black pepper. Peppered a Ford and went to a 7 lb radiator cap and it worked for years. Besides that when you open the radiator cap it smells like tomato soup.
Best Regards,
Charlie

I have used the good old bars leak for years also but have switched to bars copper leak type sealer and it seems to work even better. I had a small problem with a Farmall BA leak and it seems to have fixed that. Oh before you ask what a BA is it is a half breed between a B and an A

I agree with gitrib, the " Dike " stopleak from conklin Co is the best. Have used it in my old 41 JD A for 30 years and it's been holding, although they do recommend it as a temporary fix.

With 4000 hrs it's time to pull the head grind the valves. Have the head resufaced and put it all back together with new gaskets

I do not use stop leak in my equipment but if I did, I would use K&W Block Seal or sodium silicate (water glass).

Irontite. Just google it. It's more expensive but it is much better than Bars leaks and the other cheap stop leaks. Keep in ming though that if the leak is anything more than minor, you should do a mechanical repair.
