Ifit makes you feel better, just smash them up into unrecognizable peices. I give egg shells to my handfull all the time, as do my parents with their 30+ chickens.

If you do have one eating eggs, just be sure to single them out and get rid of it.

My family's been doing it for pro'ly over a hundred years.Never problems with chickens eating the eggs they lay.

Bake the shells at 300 or so degrees, smash them up and give them to the chickens. Been doing that for decades as my mom did before me and her dad did before her. The reason for baking them is to kill any type of bug that could in the long run harm the chicken that ate them

When you see a pack of hens cannibalizing a next of eggs it may look like you have a big problem, but every time it's just ONE egg breaker and the rest of those idiots don't have any idea where the tasty stuff inside the egg comes from. Figure out which bird knows how to get the eggs open and put here in a pot and the problem is solved. Either by instinct or just sheer stupidity, most chickens can't/don't make the connection that there's a meal in an egg. I wouldn't worry about feeding them eggshells.
