Can anyone tell me the difference between roundup ready crops vs. roundup ready 2 crops? Do you use the same rate of roundup for both? Does 24 oz. per acre sound right for 53% glyphosate?

Sorry for the second question. I have a lot to learn. Can corn seed be Liberty Link and Round-up ready 2 tolerant? I have a bag of seed corn and it is not clear which it is. The bag has both logos on it.

Corn can be RR II and Liberty Link. I have one variety that I wanted to try that only came that way. I think that they are asking for trouble doing that. How are you going to control any volunteer corn if it is resistant to both chemicals???

I believe RR 2 is suppose to be a new generation of higher yielding seed. Still use gylphosate the same rates on RR2 as you would on plain RR.

rr2's- more cost maybe but not always more yield, patent is about to expire on rr beans and soon rr2 will be the only thing you can get, I use one qt. per acre of generic glyphosate plus surfactant (whether it's loaded or not) and ams

As for rates per acre?

It all depends on how tall the weeds are and the type of weeds you are after.

20oz of RU will kill 8 inch grass type weeds but won't kill 10 inch giant rag.

32 oz will kill about everything under 18 inches tall.

Weeds have to be actively growing as well. Dormant weeds from cold temps or drought are harder to kill.

Additives also dictate the amount you need as well.

Dboll's got it right - RR technology is gonna be off-patent very soon. 2013, I think. MonSatan came out with new patents on RR2 and is eliminating RR technology so they can keep getting their tech fees.

IF you can get a hold of RR beans and can keep them safe for a couple years, YOU CAN BIN - RUN THEM AND NOT BE BREAKING PATENT LAWS!!!!! Monsatan has obvious reasons for not wanting this to happen...

Of course, there's not reason Monsanto cannot sue you just for bein' cross-eyed anyways... They sue organic farmers, seed cleaners, their own mothers, etc, etc, ad nauseum.
