OT...hidden camera ??s

This is kinda/sorta long, but need some suggestions.

MIL who is 89yo is in an Independent Living Facility (Nice!!) and is having "issues" with the "B####" coming into her apartment and "moving stuff", "taking ?? & ??", etc. But cannot say with certainty "WHO" or "WHEN" other than when she (MIL) was out for meal or outings, etc. "SHE watches my room and knows when I'm not there...etc." Deadbolt locks were graciously changed and has made no difference.

This difficulty in her life came on rather suddenly late Jan/early Feb about the time of the 3rd anniv. of FIL passing away.

The facility has also noticed the onset of this mental anguish and seem very concerned. This is an upscale place with caring personnel in management as well as "staff". MIL is on a medication...but we are trying to get ahead. Otherwise, the lady is extremely sharp and "with it".

Wife and I are wondering about some sort of inexpensive, motion activated camera that might be useful in helping MIL realize that there is nothing going on and that the "B####" is just not there....OR if on the 1/2 of 1% chance there IS someone bothering her will be an aid in identification.

I've seen on YT...from time to time...photos taken by game cameras. I'm guessing that there is quite a cost/feature(s)/benefit variance in the equipment. This would be set up indoors to just see who comes/goes and would not need to be 24/7 coverage...therefore the motion activated.

Any thoughts, hints, suggestions etc. would be most appreciated. I KNOW NOTHING about such and therefore posing question here.

Thank you....RICK

That happened to my dad after he had his stroke. He would go into the wrong apartment and swear someone moved his furniture. I do not think you will gain anything proving her wrong. I was lucky that my dad overcame this on his own, but would not listen any talk that he was wrong.

Just in case it is a worker there, or even another old timer, a camera can go for $60-70 at a sporting goods store, dick's or Bass, or a local place. Just for a day or 2 see if you know anyone who would loan you one. Trouble is, the one I got from dick's took as many pics as the card could hold. I had every moving leaf on file, so read the directions. It will be handy even after you sort this mystery out...

Mom went thru that. There is nothing you can say or do or show that will change her mind for more than a few minutes, if even that. It will only get worse, never better. There is no cure. Sorry.

My wife spent a number of years working in nursing homes, and, believe it or not, sometimes the "senile" old folks are right. STUFF does happen.

A guy she worked with is in the state pen for fondling an elderly woman. Supposedly this had gone on for YEARS.

When folks like you (2X4) don't ever believe what loved ones say, bad help can get away with HORRIBLE things for years.

Go get a trail camera. I have one which I have moved from time to time and have seen alot. It has help with my kid to have them identify a car in the drive which in turn put the word out that we had camera's. I presently have it at work. I drilled a hole in the side on my old tool box and put it inside so it can't get stolen. I caught two thieves in action. The word is now out at work and the steeling has stopped. I set mine to take a 30 second vidieo, The pictures didn't tell me enough. Your Mil may still have issues but, at least you will know. Good Luck

My mom, in a nurseing home, said someone was
stealing her candy, cookies, pens. One day
while sitting there, talking to her,an alshiemer
paitent walked right in, went to her dresser,
and opened drawers. Mom told her nicely, "Don't
do that. I huffed up and said"GET OUT OF THIS
ROOM", she sure scurried off, but mom says that
she goes where ever she pleases, nurseing staff
leaves her alone, can't stop her unless they'ed
restrain her.

my dad kept saying the dogs were running thorugh his room and jumping on his bed and running off down the hall while he slept..

we thought he was really loosing it... doctors thought it also...

then his cell phone rang while in the dresser and it had the ring tone of the dogs singing/barking jingle bells......

we all had a good laugh over that one.

My mother is in a nursing home also so I can speak with some experience. Like some below said, you will not convince her of anything. But if your do use a camera, you will know what's going on and will have peace of mind about it. Like others said, sometimes things do happen.

My grandmother was afraid people would steal things, so she would hide them and forget she hid them and then she was sure they were stolen. She had Alzheimers
