I had not heard this until 9-11. I knew what we where taught in school but not the whole story. That morning after the towers came down a local disc jockey played this story. I had to pull my pickup over because I could not see the road anymore. I have since then made sure that all of my children and grand children KNOW this story. This nation is a great one because of the sacrifices of those before us that many times gave their all. Many of them, at the start of this great country, where just everyday men and women. So as you listen to this think about what they where willing to do and give to make sure this nation was born!!!!!
Star Spangled Banner story

Only took me less than two minutes of listening to the story to realize it was not true. As they say "Close, but no Cigar"

F. S. Key did write the words while on an enemy ship during the bombardment of Ft. McHenry during the war of 1812. It was later put to music of an old pub song.

The war of 1812 was the first time any nation attacked American soil.

Google F.S.Key of Star Spangled Banner for more info.
