Farmall H 4 speed transmission

i found Farmall H that has a 4speed transmission,no 5th gear,supposedly came out on steel does anybody know were any of these really built?

It is the same 5 speed as any other H has, but since it has steel wheels, 5th gear is locked out.

Yes, war years did come out on steel. I understand that it has fifth gear, it's just locked out and the lock can be removed.

There was one sold at an auction yesterday. I might have one, never looked, it is a 1943 that came on steel.

yup, all farmall H's that came out on steel wheels had 5th gear locked out, it has the components for 5th gear, but because travel would have been dangerous in 5th gear on steel it was locked out. You can undo the lockout if you wish
