What crops do guys grow up there? How long is oyur growing season?Do you haye 9 months of snow on the ground? That far north--fascinating!Thanks,Steve

the crops that are grown here is just about anything canola wheat barley oats peas alberta is a big province climate can vary quit a bit some winters we have where i am are difernent from year to year some days in january it could be raining and the next day it could be 40 below generally the winters here are not that bad I grew up in thunderbay ont i remember the winters there to be alot colder than here at least here we get some chinooks that seems to break up the winters a little bit. Lately it seems like are springs are longer and getting longer falls. there has been some winters i had only plowed the snow once all year this last winer i could not keep up

Yeah, my ol freinds in SE Edmtn said the snow was so steady, they ran out of places to put it- small suburban driveway and front yard, and big sagging spruce make it even smaller. A few minus 40's this year too eh? I argee, it is a notch better thru the year than most of Canada, and some states- you took a step in the right direction from Thunder bay..heck, it was -20F in New Mexico this winter! And snowed in Yellowstone the other day! So when is sundown? or twilight? 10-10;30? Too bad you can't bottle that. Their garden got started about the same as Northeastern states, hardy stuff in april, and everything grows quicker with the long daylight. Yep, gotta bottle that stuff. So what's up with the oil industry up there? My freind doesn't have the overtime he had a couple years ago, I don't get it.

when i come up here from tbay i was 16 years old i had come to work for my dad in his sawmill just for the summer i had quit my paperroute and jumped on the greyhound bus it was july 5 when i got here 1985 i remember falling in love with this country when i would stay up till midnight and it was still kind of daylight there is nothing like a western sunset just beatiful oh plus i found my first girlfriend that could of been a factor for me staying up here LOL dont know what is up with the oilpatch up here the price of oil is very high and still not alot of work going on I cant figure it out and I give up trying dont really want to work in the oilpatch anymore it has really changed over the last few years. I wish i had enough old tractors to restore just enough to make a living
