OT - My Grandpa's Pin

My mom gave me this brass pin that belonged to my grandpa Hank. Is this something like what a CDL is nowadays?

Looks like an old Chauffeurs licence pin. It was to be worn on your hat when you were driving. The license covered anything from semi's to busses. It was replaced by CDL's in the 60's. I had one from Ohio back in the early 60's, but switched to a regular driver license when I moved to Michigan in 1964 as I no longer drove trucks.

Back in 1974 I drove an eighteen wheeler for a friend, and Kentucky Law required a chauffeur's
license ( A paper slip with a number on it ) , which also did not require
any proof of expertise, all you did was go down to the circuit court clerks
office and pay a fee, and presto, you was a truck driver, even if you couldn't
spell it.
