Can You Believe a Teenager Did This?
There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy. 25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.

It ' s quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos. (all angles) of the rock.

I have seen pics of this rock on the internet before. This is truly an AMERICAN tribute to our past, present and future troops. God bless you all!

It's called the "Freedom Rock". It's located on hwy 25 north of Greenfield Ia. The same artist paints it differently every year in time for Memorial Day.

I"d like to meet this young man to salute him for his services to America . He"s got talent that he should be rewarded for . So Bubba I thank you for taking on this challenge & its meaningful beauty . May you have a brite & promising future in the field of art .God bless

There's a similar one on Highway 30 east of Waterloo Iowa.
But, my favorite one is a 4 X 8 plywood sign
West of Waterloo, on #30, about "DEADBEAT MOM's"

Hate to rain on your parade. but hwy 30 is about 40 miles south of Waterloo. Perhaps you meant hwy 20?

That's an old set of pictures. This year, his 13th of painting the rock, he's painting a tribute to the demise of Osama Bin Laden. Really talented man, and he plans to be done before Memorial Day.

Not trying to hijack the post but another little tid bit of information you may find intersting... I don't remember his name but the lead singer of the metal band Korn (ask your kids who Korn is if you don't know) has a favorite farm pond down by Greenfield he likes to fish when they aren't out touring, and on his way back home he likes to stop at the Freedom Rock and take a moment to reflect on those who sacrifice their lives for all of us.

downsouth, thanks for the pix, I hadn't seen them before. The young man is to be congratulated on his tribute to America and his respect for veterans. Perhaps there is some hope for the future. Thanks again!
