How has it come to this?

Recently, I am seeing a number of simple questions turn into name calling, personal attacks or political rants.

If you don't have constructive comments, please don't participate and take your negativism somewhere else.

When posting on the forum, a box appears titled Posting Guidelines. Please read. That's my rant for the day.

Well, if it helps out any, some people say that the world is going to end today, so you wont have to worry about it anymore.. :)

I take it that "K" stands for "Kim"? I always thought you lived in Warshington State; have you moved to Missoury?

Mother ( God Rest Her Sole)always said " If you do not have anything good to say do not say anything".

That kind of stuff reflects a persons personality in every day life. It probably indicates how they get along with family and neighbors as well.

When things get ugly on this board, I do like I did all my life when a fight breaks out.....I jump in the car, and protect the women.

I only got hurt in one fight in my whole life....when I slipped and fell running around the corner.

As long as OT topics that make people mad are allowed, or the drunk know-it-alls are allowed to post their drivel, its gonna happen! Simple cures, dont respond to the posts, or even better, the management needs to disallow all post NOT relating to tractors, and dosnt look like that is going to happen. this particul;ar forum has become a release for tensions, politics, general farming, etc., anything but tractors, so if a poster has a question about a prticualr tractor, maybe he should post on the appropriate forum insead of here, or join A betTer Forum!

I usually stay clear of this kind of thing, but. I think this follows the kind of persons we are talking about. Over and over, I read where they can't get along with their neighbors, or the store clerks or the local government. Don't like cameras when they run a red light. Maybe they should look in a mirror. My neighbors love me and me them, I have had store clerks bend over back ward to help me. No problems at all with the local laws as long as I pay my taxes. Yes, I think maybe they should look into a mirror.

It is caused by a number of factors. The poor economy, lot of people are getting lots of rain so people are in bad moods and that spills over to the post. Not good but happens all the time

"Better to be still and thought of as a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Theres alot of that on this board. Try as I do to make positive comments, sometimes my sense of humor is attacked by a member of this forum. Do I lose sleep over it, no but i still feel the need to defend myself.

Not quite sure what causes it? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Struggling to make ends meet? Poor economy? your guess is as good as mine.

I agree with the comment but these boards are just like everyday life in the real world. By that I mean there are all kinds of people on here and to get through the day you have to learn to live with all of them and not let it get under your skin.

The problem with the world nowdays is that everything is supposed to be so anteseptic and unfortunately that thought process is being taught to our kids also. By that I mean their taught that this or that is wrong and shouldn't be happening. Take bullying for instance. Instead of teaching the kids that there are always going to be bullies in this world and how to deal with them and not let anything that is said or done get under their skin, they just tell them it's wrong and to tell an adult and let it go at that. They are not taught how to laugh at themselves and shrug off anything that has been said, they are not taught how to counter comments made and let the bully know that what they are doing isn't all right. Basically they are not taught how to stand up for themselves, but rather are taught to run ask for help from someone else. Typically that does nothing but upset the bully and open up the person to even more attacks as running away proves what the bully thought in the beginning that the person they were picking on is easy prey.

Funny thing is that as the kids are growing up that flawed way of thinking is getting brought more and more into the common, everyday way of thinking in the adult world also. The problem with that is it all leads to a generation of people that are all too scared to stand up for themselves, too afraid to say antyhing because it might offend someone. Like I said in the beginning, the worlld is made up of all kinds of people, some more abrasive than others. The only easy path through it is to learn to live with them. Part of that is accepting the fact that they are who they are and not being afraid to stand up to them, call them out, and if the situation warrants be be just as abrasive right back to them if your the one attacked because running off and crying to 'Mommy" to 'poof' the bad man and make him go away doesn't accomplish anything.

In recent history on this board is the post I made last night about the cause of a problem often being the simple thing you overlook. As usual BOB decided to make a smart a$$ed comment to my post. I didn't get mean but countered his comment and explained the gist of the comment he had made was in fact the whole idea behind my post, he just hadn't understood it. In turn I made a somewhat smart a$$ed comment at my own expense as I know I do tend to get wordy at times....((((but that's just me and I accept me for who I am just as everyone that knows me does.)))) I don't know what happened but this morning I see that that part of the post, and I assume probably others I didn't see, is gone. My question is why delete something like that? I understand the moderators have a right to censor things as this is their board but unless someone was cursing, or being profane, why delete a comment made to ME unless I was offended and asked for it to be deleted??? Personally I understand life is not an antiseptic enviromnent and as a result I've learned to deal with all types of people on my own, I don't need another 'adult' to do it for me. Typically I find that when someone starts bullying if you counter them and let them know your not easy prey they eventually get the idea and back off, and this holds true even more if the counter is done publically. By deleting things like BOB's comments and the replies to him, all it does is further encourage the him, or anyone else that does the same thing on here, to keep going because they never get publically 'called out' on what they are doing and when they do it just gets everything poofed. In reality that does nothing but give the 'bully' way more power than they deserve because now they knows all they have to do is make a comment that someone else won't like, about something they don't like, and by doing that they can get things deleted pretty much at will. Explain to me how that fixes anything???

Ok, I've put in my two cents for what they are worth, now lets see how long it takes for my comments to go poof...........

I will admit, this forum is different than it was when I was on back around '03. I just figured it was due to a group of folks that either have their land on fire, underwater, frozen or blowing away.

Times is tough and I think sometimes it's easy to reflect that with a post on here.

For what ever it may be worth, there's been literally hundreds of post's like yours over the years. Some people will abide. Many won't. Some of the latter will be drawn to this very thread, like moths to a flame. The thing is, nothing has changed. There's been different levels of intelligence for quite a while now.

There's no entrance exam given here. (If there was, tlaK would have never happened!)

While I agree that discussions/conversations/debates about "issues of the day" when conducted in a polite, civilized manner are good, it is when "personalities" are brought into play that is uncalled for. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way.

MF Poor...you had some good comments until you wrote: "There's no entrance exam given here. (If there was, tlaK would have never happened!) " IMO that type of comment is uncalled for.

What I find interesting is how "brave" some folks are in the cyber world. Some of this trash talk could get your butt kicked in the real world. You really don't know who you are dealing with. I had a uncle that was 6'7 and 280lbs. And very mean, especially when he was drinking. He put guys in the hospital many times. He got shot a couple of times, I think that just made him meaner.

....and it was their right to say that and our constitution defends that right. BUT...in a few hours they will be proven wrong.."again"! 'Nuff said...they are the ones who have to live with dooms-day attitude. THEY are the ones who opened their mouths.

I certainly wouldn't let anyone say to my face some of the things I've been told here, but then again sometimes when I'm puttn my 2 cents in and it gets poofed I figure maybe my 2 cents were better kept to myself. Maybe some folks do need a breath analyzer on their computor. Maybe some of us stone throwers outa look at ourselves. Like life, lots of maybe's, but all in all it's a good forum.

Actually, they are more likely to be wussies who would not have the guts to talk to a person face-to-face in that manner. The anonimity given by the Internet gives them courage.

I agree, someone else mentioned Tractor Talk should only be tractor-related. To me, I agree to a certain extent, but there again, since I've been on the site, it seems to have evolved into a random conversation area with like-minded (tractor, farm, rural) thinking.

I kind of like it that way myself, its kind of like talk at the grain elevator, coffee shop, seed dealer, truck stop, etc. Like minded folks just chattin. But I agree, there's no need to argue/talk negatively here, or get TOO political or TOO religious.
Unfortunately, there's plenty places to fight in this world.
And there are sites for extensive political or religious talk. Occasional mention shouldn't really be that out of line, I wouldn't think.

Just me chimin in, ignore my comments if you like.
Take care
