still got some corn unpriced ,, the price dropped a dollar when gold hic-cuped last week ,,, seems that dry out west /wet fields delaying planting in midwest , flooding have little effect on stimulating a rebound ,, now , i spose the 7.80 price was strictly gambler driven ,instead of reality driven ,, what is your views , thanx, guys

I think the current futures price (almost $7) is still overpriced. All commodities are going up because of the weakening dollar, but the corn price rise is so drastic, it just doesn't fit the mold at all. The result is everyone (in my area anyway) is making last minute planting decisions to up their corn acres. If I had to guess, I would say the corn price plummets (to the $5 range) by the time all that corn leaves the field.

I think its way over priced. Hot money flowing around looking for a home. The corn price is being driven by oil prices, which are trending down. End users, other than ethanol right now cant pencil out feeding corn, even with record high cattle prices. With the cattle herd record small, thats going to support beef prices. Class III milk futures were below 18 two months out and front month down in the 16"s. At todays corn prices thats pushing a lot of guys at the cost of production.

I"d have locked, or would lock on any rally I could find every bushel that you can insure. If you want protection against an explosive break out on the upside buy out of the money options.

There have been way more years when corn sold for less than 3.00 a bushel than years it sold for over 5.00.

If we have "ANY" sort of interuption to this growing crop, you ain't seen nothing yet as far as a top in price. But first we have to get the crop planted. I would consider holding on to your inventory an insurance policy if you can do without the money for the moment.

Beans likely are about done, any shift in acres & we are looking at more beans, not less....

Corn has a chance to blow up. In either direction, tho! :) Money troubles in the world & they will drop. More weather troubles, or realizing the troubles we already have, and they will chase higher.
