Notched Blades vs. Plain Blades

Notched blades have two functions that I can think of right off. 1) Will turn trash under with out pushing it in front of the blades. 2) They will cut harder ground because of the smaller contact area.

Disadvantage of the notched blades is that they will wear faster because of the smaller contact area. Most of the people that are part timers will never wear out a new set of blades anyway. So unless you are disking a lot I would not worry about wear.

More effective in corn stalks- the stalks get grabbed by the little concave cutout, and get cut through. Also cut lighter, grassy trash better, same reason.

If I had a choice I would go with the notched blades. They seam to do a better job for me in thick grass. They do seam to wear a little faster. Stan
