too much weight make clutch slip?

I added 68 gallons gallons to the oversized rear tires of my WD witch added about 567 lbs to each tire. I drove it for the first time since filling them yesterday and it felt like the clutch was slipping. Could I have just made a headace for my self?

Your clutch is either out of adjustment or near worn out. You could also have a weak pressure plate. By adding the weight you just got to the problem that was coming anyway.

Are you sure its not the fluid sloshing around that you're feeling. Drive the tractor up to something solid like a tree stump, or hook onto something that you can't pull, put it in high gear, let the clutch out, if it stalls your clutch is fine.

A good clutch should handle all the torque and hp the engine its behind can put out. Does it slip under load pulling something? Or does it just feel like it's slipping driving around? You do have the added weight now, 1134 lbs to get moving.

The hand clutch should snap back rather firmly. If
it does not there are shims you can take out. get an
IT manual. It's not hard.

Which clutch..??
Most WD's came with a 6 spring pressure plate on the engine (Foot) clutch..
Relacements should be the 9 spring pressure plate for the WD-45..
The clutches should kill the engine in 2nd gear, for sure..
I always preferred to abuse the foot clutch, if I had a choice, but never really had trouble with either..
Normal plow on our WD-45's are 4x14 semi-mounted..ALL tires Loaded and a RR iron across the front..
Sometimes a dual on the left side..if the ground is soft..
Not uncommon to need to help pull the hand clutch back, just to keep the front closer to the ground...ALL spring shims are removed on the Lower hitch spring bolts, to help compress that hitch spring all it will, too..
Great Fun, every time..!!
