I needed to replace the fan belt on my JD 401. I went to the Napa store and bought a belt. I got to looking at it when I got home and the belt was a industrial belt. It was a bit wider also, but fit in the pulley fairly good. So what do you think about the industrial belts on motor applications? I haven't installed it yet. Stan

No DEERE dealer in the area?

They aren't ALWAYS "out of sight" on their parts, and at least worth checking with.

For example, I needed some filters a few days back and (for an 8630 and a 4020 and a couple of L&G tractors) the dealer was quite a bit CHEAPER than NAPA or Carquest on ALL of them.

Thanks for the info. They gave me the wrong belt all right. Did a speed run to town before Napa closed. Stan

Learned the hard way. JD dealers locally closed, and I finally ran out the mower drive belts out of my JD 140, with 46" deck. Tried NAPA and several sources, NONE of the belts held up. Finally bit the bullet, drove the distance to a JD dealer, and got the real thing. The have lasted well, and they were even cheaper than the second source ones.

That number belt was just about one inch too short. I will try again tomorrow. There is a JD dealer in the next town. Stan
