Occasionally, I need to edit a pdf file.........pertaining to tractors, of course. There's lots of (free) software out there, but I often remember my old Top Sergeant from the mid-60s saying, "If they're giving it away, they're probably giving away something with it". Any recommendations for software that'll work on either XP or Windows7?

Not sure about the PC part of it but I have adobe acrobat professional and can do just about anything I want to a pdf.

Acrobat reader....

You've got to remember that they give trial or free versions of this for home use to simply support the format. It's rather useless to licence it commercially and have people publish material in a format that nobody else can read...

Just bite the bullet and buy the program. I loaded Open Office on one of my computers that I use occasionaly. Then used their Power point to change a program. When I tried to use it on a real Power Point it wouldn't open it said had Files missing. Had to redo all over on Real Power Point.

Actually, I've got and use Open Office for word processing; hadn't thought to look at it. Thanks.........

portable data file: used as a file name extension as in "xxxxx.pdf" to categorize the file for use by programs/operating systems, somewhat analgous to family last names.

Copy what you need into spread sheet. Do it all day long at work. It even lets me editthe doc from my email and resend without copying and pasting, but we have the paid version at work. I have the freebie at home, since I sometimes have to do paperwork at home....
