Not a happy camper..

I'm at a point I need to vent.. Not a happy camper hardy defines how I am feeling at this point..

Back in March I took the injectors and pump from my 930 Case in to be rebuilt (after less than 100 hours run time since last rebuild, but about 6 years time.. but was my fault for the failure, as I let the tractor sit for a couple years with a full tank of bio-fuel).. the rebuild cost nearly $900 bucks.

I was down there a week ago to get some gaskets for mounting a turbo, and the guy asked me how it ran, told him I hadn't had it running just yet but hopefully this weekend.. Told him I was a little worried, he told me don't be, the pump would be fine, and if it ran good before, it'll run just as good this time.

Well, today i finally got to a point where I was ready to fire it up.. got it all bled out, most everything hooked back up (as I have done ALOT of stuff to it this go-round)..

We put the fuel to her, and it fired up rather quickly and seemed to run strong.. Let it run about 15 minutes or so, and went to shut it down.. WHAT THE ??? IT WON'T SHUT OFF!! Thinking maybe the linkage was out of adjustment or something, I unhooked it altogether and worked it by hand right at the pump.. Still won't shut off!! Finally just "choked" it off..

I guess I'll be making a call in the morning to see what they might plan to do about the dilemma.. I'm sure he'll stand behind his work, as he's always been good with me.. Just really tweeks me that I pay $900 to have it repaired, and I'm gonna end up pulling the pump again and burning $4.00+/gal fuel to take it back to him, and sit and wait a week or more to get it back, to re-install and cross my fingers and hope..

Rant over, sorry for such a long post..

Does it only run at one speed (indicating the "rack" is stuck) or does the governor control work, but not the "kill" lever?

Brad, I'm bettin that he has the idle set on the pump which should not be since you shut a 930 off by shutting the throttle off to stop the fuel delivery. I would call him and get permission to reset the idle screw on the rear of the governor housing. It is the smaller of the two sets of nuts on the cover, the top one, the small one takes a small metric size like 10 (a guess) and that will take the cover nut off, the locknut can then be loosened and the screw backed out till the thing will shut down. I would not take the pump back off until I tried this remedy. Let us know how you make out. mEl

Bob,

It's an inline Bosch... It will go from an idle and wrap up a ways (did not open it up wide open) with the throttle lever, but when you put the throttle to the "kill" position, it keeps right on at idle speed.. Don't slow it down any further than the idle speed (600 rpm or so?? The tach is currently not working).. That's why I unhooked the throttle linkage and ran the arm on the pump by hand, thinking maybe it needed a linkage adjustment, and it did the exact same as it did with the throttle lever.

Mel, I plan to try to get HIM to come HERE and deal with it.. I paid him to do a job, so it should be right, IMO.. But I certainly will keep everyone posted.. Your theory sounds like it could be logical.
