CAse 2394? Good tractor?

Great tractor. Check if the power shift has been rebuilt lately, that can cost over $10,000 pretty fast. The computer that runs the power shift can act up and need replaced. Like any tractor, they need a repair now and then but it has a great engine, is easy to work on, nice cab, strong 3 point, etc.
The 2390 is great too with the 3 speed power shift that has less to go wrong but has bigger jumps between gears. I am usually in "3" on my 2390 and "6" on the 2594 so it is just more to run through each time!

Can't say much about the Case, except I like cabs with TWO doors.
Link is to an ad I was looking for when you posted the other day about what tractors to look for besides IH 50 series. Don't know where you are in MN, but this TW30 is in n/w WI, just a few miles from the MN border. (not mine, don't know seller)

They are a pretty good tractor. If you want a good cheap horse power the older Case go pretty cheap too. 1370 and 1570 are real reasonable. The only issue is that they are 100 PTO only. They did not have any electronics either.

Now Ford Farmer"s advice on a Ford TW20 is skewed. Those TW series Fords are cheap for a reason. The biggest is the engines. They are a non sleeved engine and over haul is expensive. The transmissions are not great either. Ford did not have a 100 plus horse power tractor until the Gennisis series.

Skewed how? In favor of Fords? Yes, I'll admit to that - that's what I own and use. I have also run various IH, JD, Case, and Hesston models. (and I mentioned the 25 and 35 in the earlier post, and a 30 in this one, BTW)
Yes, they are sleeveless. ANY overhaul is expensive. I just had my TW35 o/h'ed last fall, cost about $4500. Not out of line with other brands for o/h cost. Never had an issue with the transmissions, other than the usual complaint about low reverse being too slow and high reverse too fast.

What I have seen around here is that most will score the block so bad that it will not clean up by just boring it. The transmissions on TW20 and TW30 had issues with the power shift side. They will not bring much around here.

I will also say that the farmers around here that do use them are rough on equipment. Not much pride in ownership.

That said: the newer Fords are fine. I used a 8870 for tillage one year that I had bought for resale. Almost kept it but the Ford dealer net work around me in not great so I sold it. It also had the super steer and that is too many moving parts for me on a front axle.

I will agree that many won't clean up by simply boring oversize... but it's just about standard procedure to bore and sleeve back to standard. My local dealer almost never used oversize pistons, unless specifically asked to by the owner.
I have heard of some problems with the Dual Power, but it was mainly related to abuse (downshifting in high gear) or neglect. I know of a couple that were used as pulling tractors, with the Dual Power intact, including a 7000 powered by a Genesis 456 c.i.
