This is off topic but used for farming. Does anyone know of a brand of boots that are slick soled, and oil resistant? Cant seem to find anything that dosent have mud cleats on them. They can be lace up or slip on. Thanks Sam

I've got a pair of Red Wing lace-up 8 inchers that came with just a little pebble graining tread on the soles (smooth now after maybe 100 days of use) and they are supposed to be oil resistant.....I haven't had then in oily conditions so I can't really vouch for that. Only thing was they cut into the back of my legs at the top so I cut away about an inch at the back and tapered it up to the front to keep all the laces. Fairly cheap for Red Wings, got 'em for 100 bucks flat at a fair show, made in the USA too.

Wolverine boots sold by Sears are slick soled and oil resistant. Price $80-120 depending on if you catch them on sale.

Yes, Redwing. There used to be a brand, Mason shoes, that were good. They would send you an entire "dealer" packet and you could sell to others and make a little commission. My dad and I used Mason shoes for years when we were farming. Manure was hard on them so we ended up getting a new pair about every 8 months. Now that I am not so hard on them, I can get a pair of the Redwings to last 10 years or more.

I have been buying Bellevilles off of www.bellevilleshoe.com They are a military contractor and make their boots in the US. They sell USAF flightline and Navy flightdeck boots. They are relatively slick soled for FOD resistence. Many models offer Goretex insulation. Most models have a steeltoe variant just by adding ST to the model number. I have had the 330, 770, and currently have a pair of 800 ST for work. They are extremely comfortable and light. The price is kinda high but cheaper than Rockies or Matterhorns. They also last several years at work as opposed to the Rockies that I used to repace every fall.

Carharts are IMHO, the best out there at the moment. Wore Wolverine for ages until they quit using pigskin. Then went to Red Wing for a number of years. Would go back to Wolverine in a second if they were to go back to using pigskin and making a moc toe. Most comfortable shoe ever. Carharts are a close second.

Thanks for the help. Our store that sells redwings said that they didnt have any slick sole work boots. They only had cleated boots anymore. I will check with a dif. store Once again thanks. Sam

Went through that drill a couple of years ago. Hard to find a pair without the gravel hauler tread. Got a pair of Redwing pull on's #2259. They have a very small tread pattern that doesn't pick up dirt. Wear them daily, they did get kind of roomy after the initial snug fit. At the time they were still one of Redwing's USA made but I'm not so sure now.

If you just need something that won't pick up gravel, or you are working in oily messes all day, and need a grip... my favorites are the $11 high black rubber (nylon) boots at TSC. When you get mad at them, the goodwill or other donation boxes will find someone else that needs them. I've worn them when it was 100, and again at 20 below. Never had a pair that leaked....

Red Wing #00952-3 have slick soles. The 952-3's are 6" boots, they also make a taller boot of the same design with slick soles. They're in the $100 price range.

Most of the boots you guys have already mentioned are no longer made in the U.S.A., but instead are imported from China.

Double H brand boots are the only boots that are made 100% in the U.S.A., and the price is comparable to the Chinese junk.

Been wearing Red Wings in the shop for better than ten years. The model with the tread which looks like a coiled snake. Do not slip on oil or water. Boots been lasting 3 years, unlike the chinese made boots which last me about six months. Pricey at near 200 dollars, but 9 hours on sore feet is not worth any amount of money.

I have Timberland Pro's that I get through work. They are the 6 inch style. I only use the 8 inch in the woods, now. the Timberland's have the harder smoother sole. I never buy any with what I call vibram lug soles. I tried Redwings once because I'm a diehard made in the USA fan, but they were the most uncomfortable boots I ever owned. I think the Timberland Pro is about $140 retail.

Just bought a pair of Rocky's water proof with non MUD tracker soles BUT they are made in China , Style # 5693 8 inch lace up . for 134 at a local feed store. All i can say is they are a pair of boots . When Mason were still made here i liked the style 989 they were light weight non mud tracker oil resistant sole water proof and insulated . Take them out of the box and wear them and they fit perfect . Myself i have a hard time finding boots that fit as i have a narrow foot .

I have a pair of Redback slip on boots made down under in Australia. They aren't quite the smooth sole you're really wanting, but they're long lasting. I bought mine 4 years ago and are a long way from worn out, or even looking bad. 40+ hours a week in an auto shop...

Gene,
I believe they have you fooled, probably why you said it "appears" their footwear is American made. Nowhere in their website could I find the statement that they made footwear in the U.S. Also the use of the term "Work America" is, I believe, possibly deceptive on purpose. Notice it's the name of a line of footwear, not a claim or statement about where it's made. I think if it werer made in the U.S. they'd come right out and say it.
