Suggestions on how to move a dead tractor?

We want to bring dad's Ford 4000 to our house and put it in the heated garage

lol, trying to get this thing started in 9 degree weather just is not going to happen and I am to OCD to wait till it gets warmer.

Is there anything we should NOT do to get it moved?

We were thinking about just towing it, our problem will be getting it in our garage. It is a basement garage and our deck posts are 12ft apart with our overhead doors in the center of each set. We will have to some how back it in to the garage between the deck posts.

I do not know anyone that has a tow/push bar, only a garage and I am sure they do not want to part with it :D

Any creative suggestions are welcome.

This might not be a problem with newer tractors, but make sure it isn't frozen down. I watched someone snap the front bolster off an antique Famalll B by jerking on it a few times while it was frozen down.

Be sure ice hasn't locked up the transmission/differential.

Run a tow chain through a length of pipe to make a temporary tow bar.

Find the traction disconnect on it that sits about boot level on the rear axle center housing. I forget if it's on the right side or left... but it will be there with a bolt holding it in place. Unbolt it and flip it the other way. May have to rock the tractor to get it to move... but once it's released the tractor should roll freely.

The tractor [u:120710c5da]IS[/u:120710c5da] frozen to the ground, but we are aware of it. lol, that would be something else, breaking it in two!

I will check to see if I can find the traction disconnect. I actually think that is already disconnected because it already rolls freely - hoping that is our SOS "problem," wouldn't that be nice! It just quit working one day. We were working on getting it started before even looking at the transmission.

I use a 10 foot double hitch pipe for moving tractors, but your idea would work well for pushing as well as pulling.
