Trailer chains

Some of my trailer chains got wet in my storage bucket and are quite rusty..Any tips on cleaning and possibly oiling them, if oiling them is a prudent thing to do. CM

I have drug them behind a 4-wheeler in a grassy field, that really cleaned/shined them up. Just think how clean the front chains are on a bush hog after some mowing

After you get them cleaned up by whatever means you decide. Drop them inside. Even on a cement floor is better than in a pail or other container that can hold water, or with a lid on tight condensation.

I'll bet that he had the bucket on his trailer. I coated mine with Iron phosphate. It lasted about five years. I used phosphoric acid from the foodservice store.
