RV frame for tractor hauler

This showed up on the roadside a couple miles from my place Sat. AM. At the time it was piled high with what appeared to be mainly scrap metal. It reminded me of the recent post here about converting an RV trailer to a tractor hauler.

Today the scrap metal was gone from it which told me that there had to be a problem with it as a trailer. The license plate was gone as well, which told me that the owner had decided that it was not useful to him after all. So now it sits in front of a widow friend's mill pond. It won't be her problem though because the state owns the ground there.

Depends on what tractor and how heavy. If something like an N series ford or massey that size it would probably work. If hauling a ford 5000 or so big tractor probably a bit light weight frame for that.

I partly agree. If you could load with a crane and set an N down where it should ride, it would probably be OK. But as I looked at it I had to question the forces on it as the weight is on the back end during loading.

I suppose a guy could cut the frame off shorter to the axle reinforce a bit. then add a tilt deck that would carry the tractor and no ramps needed that way and less to reinforce that way.

Sometimes, even free isn't a good deal. Too light of axles? Buy a used car trailer on Craig's List-you'll be a lot happier. The only thing this is good for is to make a hay trailer.

It would be suitable for no more than one layer of hay.
