I read the earlier thread about trucking transport companies but they all seemed in the heartland. anyone have ideas for a trip from st. george, UT down to the Prescott, AZ area (not quite to prescott) i did put an ad on hauling schedule so fingers crossed there but probably need to investigate a back up plan

A lot of the companies listed, are hauling all over the country. Just because they are in the midwest, or some other area does not mean they don't have a truck in your area, or may have one there is a few days. You might also look for trucks looking for a partial going that direction. Freight should be a bit cheaper as a partial, though it might be a bit longer of a wait. Most freight travels east to west or vice versa, so that is not a normal travel direction for most companies. I have had decent luck with the hauling board here in the past too.

thanks,, i finally got my cheapest bid yet of $1000 on uship, but i suspect they will try to hit me with some service fees and such. a lot of scammers on uship. i do have a plan A now with a local southwest independent trucker driver out of utah,, he is looking for a load back so it will be cheaper and was recommended by a local tractor guru freind of mine.

the route from pickup to drop off is about 370 miles, and is listed as 6 hours on google maps but i am sure it will take longer with a big rig.

i wonder what sort of milage haulers get with a big f450 and gooseneck type trailer.

that is actually what i estimated.

well, my last guy i was waiting for, who told me he would get back to me after he got caught up, came back with the most highest bid of all of them, at 3500. so i now have bids from 880 to 3500. that seems like such a huge spread.

You need to check that they are pricing it as a load or a partial. Makes a difference in the delivery schedule since a partial can be 7-10 days and a load is usually a straight through so to speak delivery. I would go with a partial rate if not in a big hurry for it. Also make sure they have insurance for this work if not and there is a problem you will be out the cost plus the machine possibly.
