Ford Triton V10 broken crankshaft

It appears that this has happened to a friend's F-250 (I don't know the year).

Is this common?

I'm not able to verify as per your concerns....however...

My 1999 F250 Super duty.......blew a spark plug out of the ALUMINIUM heads at 110,000 miles.......Engine was toast!
Then at 105,000 miles, a head gasket failed on a new drop in Ford V-10......

I would ask for total the miles on his Truck,,

My neighbor has blew spark plugs from his 03. Local garage puts a heli-coil in it. I ran a 03 f250 to just 180000. Headgaskets did start leaking oil out back of right one. But that full syn Valvoline 5w x 30w for high mileage vehicles stopped the leak. I couldn't believe it either! Oh and replaced both exhaust manifolds.
