I would be interested in seeing his test data on that. Did he keep record of loaded vs. unloaded? highway vs. city? Hot vs. cold weather? how many thousands of miles did he record?

I own several diesel trucks from 3/4 to class 8 tractor trailer. What I have seen the trucks that use DEF get better MPG than pre DEF trucks, and yes I have pre DEF trucks we run daily including a 6.0 Ford with 180,000 miles.

My DEF trucks got better mileage than my pre DEF ones, as it reduces the need for EGR. Now the particulate filter and its regeneration definitely costs some mileage.

quite a few thousand miles. He quit pulling anything 10-15 years ago. retired and drove
coast to coast visiting relatives.

Class 7,Kenworth auto transmission, average 45,000 pounds weight. 7.6 miles per gal,Cummins 2020 around 72,000 miles The 2010 without def was a joke, always in the shop for emissions crap.
